The Maharaja Bodhchandra College, popularly known as M.B. College, was established on September 8, 1969 and is situated in the heart of the Imphal city near the Govindaji Temple in a 5.03 acres of land. The land was gifted by the then Maharaja of Manipur, Shri Okendrajit Singh, in his revered father’s name, His Highness Shri Maharaja Bodhchandrajee Singh (Leishemba).
The College is co-educational and is continuing to impart quality education to students till now. It was affiliated to the Guwahati University before the Manipur University was established. Now, it is affiliated to Manipur University (now a Central University). Earlier it had classes from Class XI to full Degree Course, but now the higher secondary section has been delinked by the State Government and it is imparting education to only Degree courses in both Honours and General Streams.
There are 9 (nine) arts subjects namely, English, Manipuri, Political Science, Education, Economics, History, Geography, Mathematics and Philosophy.
At present the total strength of the teaching and non-teaching staffs of the college is 45. There are 38 regular faculty members, 7 non-teaching staff.
M.B. College was accreditated with “B” Grade by NAAC in the year 2012.
The college has been re-accredeted in 2019.
